What does your dog do during the day
Dogs like to keep themselves occupied so it’s important to provide him with activities while you’re not at home.
Here’s what most dogs do during a normal day:
Sleep takes up most of your dogs time. Your dog will sleep up to 14 hours a day, even more, if he’s a puppy or an older dog. A good idea is to take him out for a walk in the morning right before you have to go to work.
Your dog should have easy access to water while you’re away. When it comes to food, leaving large quantities for your dog isn’t such a good idea. What you can do is leave some food for him in his bowl and stuff his chew toys with snacks. Besides feeding him, you’ll also give him something to do if he get’s bored. You can also invest in an automatic dog feeder which you can program to dispense food several times per day.
Since a dog’s senses are heightened, every new smell or sound will put him in exploring mode. He might stay hours staring out the window at people or other animals. If you have a yard, he can go even outside. Just make sure your dog has no way to get out of the apartment or yard.
